Through science, spirit, and service, The Kerulos Center is dedicated to the creation of community and practice that foster animal self-determination and wellbeing. Kerulos is the classical Greek word for kingfisher and the brilliant cerulean blue of their feathers. As the central image of our logo, it conveys that word and bird are one. The snake encircling the kingfisher, the ouroboros, represents transformation and healing. Together, they symbolize humanity's union and reconciliation with other animals as thinking, feeling, and sentient beings.
